This experience definitely made me more willing to put myself out there. It was really outside of my comfort zone. It changed my perspective about what people do and what Red Cross needs during a disaster. I realized I had to be open. There was a purpose in what they were asking – even if I didn't see it. You have to be flexible to volunteer in these situations. My best memory is the people I worked with from Astellas. You never know what to expect -- different titles, different departments, but we all bonded so quickly, and we had the same mindset, focus and drive. No one ever said, "I'm done." It's amazing that even though we were from different parts of the company, we all approached it the same way. Everyone was in it together 100%. Astellas people. To those thinking about it – it's worthwhile. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
