Low-income, uninsured adults are more likely to forgo needed medical care and prescription medications than patients with health insurance, and far more likely to suffer related health problems and complications.
Astellas USA Foundation is providing funds to Americares to supply medicine, medical supplies and technical support to U.S. safety net clinics serving more than five million uninsured and underinsured patients. More than 800 free clinics and health centers nationwide benefit from the program, which helps to increase capacity, provide comprehensive care, improve health outcomes and reduce costs for patients. Thanks to the Foundation’s support, Americares ensures patients obtain critical medications, vaccines, medical supplies and hygiene products at no cost.
Americares U.S. Program is the largest non-profit provider of medical aid to organizations serving low-income uninsured patients in the U.S. Last year, Americares U.S. Program delivered $117 million in medicine, supplies, education and training to a network of health providers serving more than 5 million patients in need.
