Michael's Story
Michaels Miracle Flight Story

Michael is a happy and healthy 14-year-old boy, except he has no arms. He was born with TAR syndrome. TAR Syndrome is characterized by a platelet disorder and an absence of the radius (arm bone). Michael has no upper extremity bones, and his hands are at the shoulder area. Michael’s legs are affected as well. He was born with his legs internally rotated, with no knees.

Michael needed multiple blood transfusions when he was younger. He has undergone over ten surgeries performed by his specialist, Dr. Paley, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Dr. Paley has treated Michael since 2008; he is incredible. Michael must travel once per year to see Dr. Paley for follow up examinations and surgeries on his legs. Michael can walk short distances, but still requires a wheelchair. He has come a long way because he was told by doctors that he would never be able to walk.

Michael enjoys X-Box, watching sports, being independent, and figuring out how to do things on his own. He is very social in school and has may friends. We are very thankful to Miracle Flights for helping to provide all of Michael’s medical needs.

Miracle Flights has provided financial assistance for Michael to fly to Florida for treatment 17 times so far since 2009.

Michael will still need many more flights as he grows. Please Help Michael…. Donate Today!
